Mountain rescue failure?

A stunning day in Wasdale with the snow line down to 200 metres on all of the mountains. After canoeing on Wastwater in the morning, two apprentice  teams from Rolls-Royce took part in a mountain rescue exercise in the valley at the head of the lake. Used to develop an understanding and appreciation of leading tasks, teams and individuals this exercise finished with the casualty not being found! The teams did however discover that motivation and enthusiasm (which was abundant in the morning) was difficult to maintain in taxing conditions. This awareness and the coping mechanisms that were discussed were transferred directly back into the workplace and provided another classic example of a challenging task and focussed process leading to to true development programme. Working for Outward Bound Eskdale this week.
