When working with infantry soldiers (who certainly face extreme situations) you often need to challenge and inform in conditions which would be too much for the majority of the population. So it was today. To highlight the power of water and the associated conditions when caving, we visited Upper Longchurn cave with the clear awarenesses and acceptance that the water levels were on the up. Techniques such as moving in fast flowing water, awareness of level indicators, general caving information and understanding of when to get out of there! For the British soldier opperating underground is standard fare and adventure training in these conditions certainly increases their knowledge and confidence. Working for TQ and Catterick ITC this week.
