The cold, clear conditions over the second half of this week have meant wonderful mountaineering and caving conditions. Many of the high western and eastern fells have a blanket of the white stuff and the run off from the early rains have turned to a few frozen hill sides (but obviously not enough for winter routes). For underground activities the entrances to caves are near treacherous but the rest of the day proves to be a lot warmer than on the surface! For the future, well Saturday is another cold day and night, but westerlys are coming in on Sunday so get out tomorrow and Carpe diem.
